Fisayo Soyombo
A Nigerian investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo is also the founder of the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) as well as a former editor at The Cable. He is popularly known for his stay in detention as a suspect and, as an inmate in Ikoyi Prison as part of an undercover investigation for the, ‘Bribery for Sale’ story which emerged winner for the Investigative category. His story uncovers corruption in Nigeria’s criminal justice system. It illustrates a clear picture of how the Nigerian police unlawfully take and pocket bail in the country where bail is supposed to be free for law offendenders.
