Vivian Affoah is the Senior Programme Manager for Freedom of Expression and Digital Rights at the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA). She has over 17 years of experience in coordinating multi-country projects focused on media development, the safety of journalists, and digital rights advocacy across the sub-region.
Vivian joined the MFWA in 2009 and has since risen through progressively senior roles, including leading the organisation’s communication and outreach efforts. In her current role, she oversees the strategic implementation of the MFWA’s Freedom of Expression and Digital Rights programme.
Throughout her career with the organisation, Ms. Affoah has played a central role in the MFWA’s research efforts, coordinating the production and dissemination of critical reports on the state of freedom of expression and media violations. She has also been instrumental in expanding the organisation’s footprint in internet freedom and governance advocacy while strengthening collaborative ties with national partners across West Africa.
Before joining the MFWA, Vivian worked as a reporter for The Mail newspaper in Ghana, where she covered social issues. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), now the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC-IJ).
