Investigative Journalist

Edmund Agyemang Boateng

Edmund Agyemang Boateng is an investigative journalist with The Fourth Estate, the MFWA’s public interest journalism project. His investigations have uncovered the operations of unlicensed sachet water companies in Accra, suspected killings in police custody, illegal mining takeovers involving national security and an MP, misappropriated public funds, and election collation failures causing distrust and deaths.

Working with colleagues, Boateng revealed how influential figures, including a former Chief of Staff’s son, held mining concessions on ravaged riverbanks despite bans, and exposed a failed $15.8 million Accra streetlighting project. In November 2025, he and a colleague were runners-up at the Africa Investigative Journalist Award.

On May 2025, he won the Media Freedom Coalition’s Long Report award for the galamsey (illegal mining) exposé, amplifying the fight against illegal mining.
