This report presents the findings of a systematic, mixed-methods study on the role of the media in contributing to, or combating, affective polarisation in Ghana.
The study draws on three interdependent data strands: a content analysis of four major online news platforms, seven key informant interviews (KIIs) with media professionals, academics, regulatory actors, and civil society stakeholders, and five focus group discussions (FGDs) with diverse audience groups.
Together these produce an integrated and evidence-grounded account of how media polarisation operates in Ghana, what drives it, and what can be done to address it.
