This Policy brief was developed as part of the MFWA’s local governance project implemented in the Upper West region of Ghana. The project which is titled; “Promoting Accountable Governance through Professional Media and Citizens’ Access to Information”, is implemented in three Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) namely; Sissala East and Nandom and Wa. The project empowers community citizens to actively participate in local governance processes by creating avenues for interaction between citizens and local authorities on developmental challenges in the communities. In achieving this, the MFWA harnesses the potentials of community radio and other local governance dialogue platforms-such as community forums- to facilitate open, sustainable and constructive governance conversations between the two groups.
The brief presents highlights of the local governance programmes and the challenges raised at the community forums. Kindly read the Policy Brief 2016 here.
