The digital space has opened new avenues for civic engagement and political visibility, especially for women. Yet, for many female politicians in Ghana, these same spaces have become sites of gender-based abuse and intimidation.
This study explores the prevalence, forms, and impact of online gender-based violence (OGBV) against female politicians, drawing on in-depth interviews and personal accounts. It also offers evidence-based recommendations for safeguarding women’s participation in digital political discourse.
The study was made possible with the support of Dutch Foreign Ministry (through the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands).
