The MFWA-CFI Strategy Document on Promoting Gender Equality in the Ghanaian Media

This Strategy Document is a key outcome of the “Equal Voices—Promoting Gender Equality in the Media” project (2023–2025), led by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and Canal France International (CFI).

Grounded in extensive research and four strategic stakeholder dialogues, the document outlines the persistent gender disparities in the Ghanaian media, including the underrepresentation of women in leadership, workplace discrimination, and cultural barriers to career progression.

It presents a clear roadmap with actionable recommendations for policymakers, regulators, media institutions, and civil society actors to help dismantle these barriers. Aligned with Ghana’s commitments to global and regional gender equality frameworks, this Strategy Document serves as a practical guide to fostering gender-aware and gender-sensitive media practices.
