In 2024, the Media Foundation for West Africa made strong strides in promoting press freedom, accountable governance, and social justice across the region. From groundbreaking investigative journalism and policy reforms in Ghana, to spearheading the first-ever national framework on journalist safety in Guinea-Bissau, the year marked meaningful progress.
We helped safeguard electoral integrity through the Media Situation Room under the Ghana Fact-Checking Coalition, recognised by ECOWAS and the UN. Our work also strengthened media gender equality, empowered young journalists across West Africa, supported legal defence for media actors, and fostered peacebuilding and social cohesion in Ghana.
Our 2024 Annual Report highlights these achievements and the stories behind them. We invite you to download and explore the full report to see how our work is helping shape a freer, more informed, and more democratic West Africa.
