The MFWA remains West Africa’s leading freedom of expression organisation with over 26 years experience of working across the region. In 2021, we undertook an extensive contextual analysis of key media and freedom of expression challenges and opportunities across West Africa to inform our new Strategic Plan (2022-2024).
Based on the thorough context analysis and the key issues and challenges identified, the MFWA’s work for the next three years is focused on three broad Thematic Areas namely: Freedom of Expression & Digital Rights; Media & Good Governance; and Institutional Development; with Women Empowerment as a cross-cutting theme. The programmes will be pursued through Impact-Oriented Advocacy; Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations; Research and Documentation; and Stronger Institutional Systems.
