The Media Foundation for West Africa from May 19 – 21, 2021 held the maiden Residential Story Development Bootcamp for Journalists in Ghana.
Out of about 70 applications received, 15 journalists from print, radio, television, and online news organisations were selected for the programme. The Bootcamp provided a platform for the participating journalists to brainstorm on the story ideas they had submitted during the application process. It also afforded the journalists an opportunity to discuss effective approaches to pursuing those stories with experienced and outstanding media professionals who were the trainers at the programme.
The Bootcamp was also an opportunity for peer learning, experience sharing, and mentorship. Significantly, the programme helped the participants to reflect on how to use the Right to Information Law to access information to advance their story development.
The Bootcamp comprised interactive presentations from seasoned media professionals, group works, and practical story development sessions.
Participants took turns to present their story ideas for discussions and inputs
