The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) will host a virtual sensitisation seminar on October 22, 2025, to introduce Ghanaian journalists to the recently launched Guide for Journalists on Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs), Progressive Taxation, Resource-Based Lending, and Domestic Resource Mobilisation Reporting in Ghana.
The webinar aims to familiarise journalists with the guide’s content and promote its use as a practical tool for strengthening financial reporting, advancing transparency, and contributing to accountability in Ghana’s fiscal system.
The 142-page guide, launched in Accra on August 1, 2025, provides detailed explanations, case studies, investigative approaches, and ethical guidelines tailored to the Ghanaian context. It was developed under the project “Tax for Development: Strengthening Civil Society and Media for Fiscal Justice”, implemented by the MFWA with support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) through Oxfam in Ghana.
At the launch, key stakeholders including representatives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), and the National Media Commission (NMC) commended the guide as a vital resource for journalists covering issues of tax justice and illicit financial flows.
The upcoming webinar will create awareness and provide participants with practical insights into how the guide can be used to enhance reporting on fiscal governance and domestic resource mobilisation.
