Guinea-Bissau: 75 youths to be trained on media literacy, disinformation countermeasures

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is organising a capacity-building training to equip young people in Guinea-Bissau with the tools to navigate the media landscape and combat mis/disinformation and hate speech.

The event will take place from July 29 to August 1, 2025, at the Bissau Royal Hotel. The training will bring together over 75 youth leaders, students, activists, and content creators for four days of learning, sharing, and practical skill-building.

The training will open with remarks from the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport, the European-Union (EU), the National Youth Commission, and National Network of Youth Associations (RENAJ). It will be broadcast live on Rádio Jovem.

The training is part of the EU-funded project “Promote and Protect Democracy by Safeguarding Freedom of Opinion and Expression and Combating Mis/Disinformation in Guinea-Bissau” project.

This initiative is implemented by the MFWA in partnership with Reporters sans frontières (RSF) and Fondation Hirondelle (FH). A key outcome of the project is to empower young people in Guinea-Bissau to become critical thinkers and trusted voices in their communities.
