The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), with funding from Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie, is inviting applications from mid-career and experienced journalists in Ghana to participate in the 8th edition of the Next Generation Investigative Journalism (NGIJ) Fellowship.
The Fellowship is part of the MFWA’s project, “Promoting media safety and professionalism for accountable governance in West Africa,” which aims to enhance the safety and security competencies of journalists through capacity building on physical and digital security, and improved media professionalism and critical reporting in Ghana.
This three-month hybrid fellowship, which will take place between October to December 2025, is a non-residential fellowship that will combine in-person and virtual sessions, to provide selected journalists with advanced skills, mentorship, and editorial support to undertake impactful stories on media safety and professionalism in Ghana.
What to Expect
- Intensive mentorship and practical training with the MFWA’s Independent Journalism Project: Fact-Check Ghana and The Fourth Estate.
- Editorial support to produce at least two stories and fact-check reports each month.
- Advanced training on physical and digital security, investigative journalism, factchecking and data journalism.
- Certificate of Honour upon successful completion.
- Monthly stipend.
Eligibility
- Open to mid-career and experienced journalists working in print, radio, TV, or online media in Ghana.
- Applicants must commit to full participation in both virtual and in-person sessions.
- Female journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
