This report highlights incidents of press freedom violations in Cote d’Ivoire over the past decade(2010-2019) in the light of the UN Plan of Action for the Protection of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
Forty-nine (49) violations against journalists were recorded during the period. The violations covering the 10 year period include murder, physical attacks, arbitrary arrests and/or detention, kidnapping, sentencing, as well as threats by individuals against journalists. The reports on these violations also mention the perpetrators who include, state security agents (particularly police), state officials, and political party activists.
