The January – March 2019 edition of the Internet Rights Monitor highlights violations, developments and challenges confronting internet access and use in the region, covers seven countries – Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea and Senegal. Four out of the seven countries being reported on recorded incidents of digital rights violations. In all, four incidents deemed as digital rights violations were recorded during the quarter. These incidents were mainly arrest and detentions and seizure of equipment. The report concludes with some recommendations for enhancing internet access and use in West Africa.
